From The Chair

Well what a fantastic year 2009 was.

Wellingborough Museum supported us by hosting an exhibition of 101 years of carnival which attracted many hundreds of visitors who reminisced over carnivals past.
We also had huge support from the public and visiting Carnival Courts at our Carnival in July and Parade of Lanterns in November.

Our 2008/09 Carnival Queen, Chanelle Sadie Paul, was crowned UK Carnival Queen at Disneyland Resort Paris in January 2009 and travelled around Europe as part of her prize.  Our 2009/10 Court, Louise Mullally Queen, and her Princesses, Lavone Thomas and Jessica Findlay.

We took delivery of a wonderful new float which replaced the one that was no longer fit for use in May 2009 designed and built by Towability Ltd

The girls have enjoyed travelling to other carnivals and have been wonderful ambassadors for Wellingborough.

The float was purchased with monies from Empowering Councillors & Communities Scheme - Northamptonshire County Council and The Borough Council of Wellingborough.

Shannon & Charlotte Poulson

In 2009 our parade collection was just over a £1,000.

In 2008 Due to the generosity of you the public from monies collected on the parade route we were able to donate £988.78 to both the Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal and The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust – SDBTT Claire Rowland Fund, and £100 to Wellingborough Museum.

We are again looking for your support to join in our carnival parade and for the streets to be filled with well-wishers supporting those who have gone to so much trouble in building floats and making costumes.

See you all on Carnival Day Saturday 3rd July and at Party in the Park on Sunday 4th July - Wellingborough's only live music event.
